How much will it cost, who sets the pricing?
AmpUp as a software provider does not set any pricing for the charging locations.
Charging rates are determined by the site host (property owner or management of the location).
Pricing may vary based on location, energy costs, or charging duration.
To view the cost before starting a session:
- Open the AmpUp app or web app
- Scan the QR Code
- Review the pricing details displayed on the station page
If pricing is unclear, please contact AmpUp Support and we’ll reach out to the site host for clarification.
Pricing Structure
Charging stations may use different pricing models depending on how the site host has configured the charger. Below are the most common pricing structures you may see in the AmpUp app:
- Priced by Time
You are charged based on how long your vehicle is connected to the charger (for example, per minute or per hour). This pricing model is commonly used for Level 2 chargers and may continue to accrue even if charging slows or stops.
- Priced by Energy
You are charged based on the amount of electricity delivered to your vehicle, measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). This pricing model is similar to paying for fuel at a gas station—you only pay for the energy you receive.
- Priced by Time and Energy
Some stations apply a combination of both time-based and energy-based pricing. In this case, you may see separate charges for the energy consumed and the duration of the charging session.
Pricing details are always shown in the app before you start a charging session. We recommend reviewing the station’s pricing carefully to understand how charges are calculated.
