AmpUp provides software that enables EV charging access and session management. However, we do not own, operate, or enforce parking rules at any charging location. All parking regulations are determined and enforced solely by the site host, property management, or parking authority.
Examples of Parking Spot Issues:
- A non-EV vehicle is parked in the charging spot.
- Another EV is blocking or occupying the charger but is not actively charging.
- A car is parked too close, preventing access to the connector or cable.
- The designated EV spot is being used for non-parking activities (loading, idling, etc.).
- The charging area is temporarily blocked by cones, barriers, or maintenance activity.
- Parking signage is unclear, missing, or inconsistent with charger availability.
If any of these situations occur, please contact the site host directly.
For their contact details, you can refer to the Site Host Info for the location on the map or by scanning the QR code through the app.
Q: What can I do if a non-electric vehicle is parked in an EV charging spot?
A: Blocked EV chargers and parking spots are pretty common, especially in busy public areas.
What you can do:
- Check nearby chargers using the AmpUp Mobile App. If there’s another charger at the location (or close by), that’s usually the quickest workaround.
- Contact the site host or property management. Their contact information may be available in the mobile app.
- Parking rules are set and enforced by the location owner (not AmpUp). If there’s on-site security, a front desk, or property manager, they’re the right ones to help.
- Look for posted signage. Some locations list a phone number or towing policy for EV-only spaces.
- You can report it in the app if the issue persist, and we can communicate to the owner. This helps flag the issue, even if immediate enforcement isn’t guaranteed.
What AmpUp can and can’t do
AmpUp provides the charging software, but we don’t control parking enforcement or towing. Only the site host or local parking authority can take action on a blocked charger.
