1. Start a Charge by Scanning the QR Code
This is the most common and easiest method.
Steps:
- Open the AmpUp app.
- Point your camera at the QR code on the charger.
- Confirm the charger details.
- Tap Start Charging.
If the QR code doesn’t scan:
- Ensure camera permissions are enabled
- Try again with better lighting
- Use the Station ID instead (see below)
2. Start a Charge Using the Station ID
Useful if the QR code is damaged or unreadable.
Steps:
- Open the AmpUp app.
- Tap Enter Station ID.
- Type the letters/number printed on the charger label.
- Confirm the charger details.
- Tap Start Charging.
3. Start a Charge with RFID
RFID can be helpful when cellular or app connectivity is weak.
(Note: Some chargers may not support RFID)
Steps:
- Tap or swipe your RFID card over the reader symbol.
- Wait for confirmation on the charger screen or LED indicator.
- Charging begins automatically.
If you have an RFID but it is not connected to AmpUp, check out: How to link my AmpUp RFID in the mobile app?
4. Start a Charge Using Credit Card via Web App (Phone’s camera)
(Available only at chargers with this feature enabled and only applicable if the charging location is public.)
Steps:
- Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.
- Enter payment details.
- Confirm the charger/unit.
- Start charging.
If the cable feels too short — how do I extend it?
Some chargers have a built-in cable retractor.
To extend the cord further:
- Hold the connector firmly
- Press and hold the button on the handle
- Pull the cable outward while holding the button
- Release once you have enough length
