AmpUp partners with Stripe to process payments securely. Follow the steps below to create or link a Stripe account and set up your payout method. The whole process takes about 5–10 minutes.
Step 1 — Select your business type
When you initiate Stripe setup from your AmpUp dashboard, you will be taken to the Stripe onboarding portal. The first screen asks you to identify your Business type.
The Business type screen. Defaults to "Individual."
Click the dropdown to see all available options:
Available options: Individual, Company, and Nonprofit organization.
- Individual — choose this if you have not registered a formal business entity (e.g. a sole proprietor or freelancer).
- Company — choose this if you operate under an LLC, corporation, or partnership.
- Nonprofit organization — choose this if you have a registered nonprofit.
Select the option that matches your situation and click Continue.
Step 2 — Select your business structure (companies only)
If you selected Company, an additional Business structure dropdown will appear below the business type. Choose the structure that best describes your company (e.g. Private corporation, LLC, Partnership).
When "Company" is selected, a Business structure field appears.
💡 If your company is publicly traded, select "Other/I'm not sure" and refer to Stripe's support article linked on that screen.
Once you have made your selection, click Continue.
Step 3 — Provide identity and business details
Stripe is required by financial regulations to verify your identity and business. On the following screens you will be asked to provide:
- Legal name, date of birth, and home address
- Last four digits of your SSN (or equivalent national ID)
- Business name, address, and website
- EIN or Tax ID (if applicable)
- A statement descriptor — the short name that will appear on your customers' bank statements
💡 AmpUp never sees, stores, or transmits your financial or tax information. All data is entered directly on Stripe's PCI-compliant servers.
Step 4 — Connect your bank account for payouts
Next, Stripe will ask you to link a bank account so it knows where to send your earnings. You will see a list of major banks to choose from, or you can search for yours.
Select your bank from the list, or use the search bar to find it.
If you select a bank from the list, a confirmation screen will appear explaining that AmpUp uses Stripe to connect your accounts. Your data is encrypted and you can disconnect at any time.
Review the connection details, then click "Agree and continue" to proceed with instant bank verification.
Click Agree and continue to log into your bank securely through Stripe's partner network. This is the fastest method.
Step 5 — Enter bank details manually (alternative)
If you prefer not to log into your bank, scroll to the bottom of the bank selection screen and click Enter bank details manually instead. A form will appear asking for:
Manual entry requires your routing number and account number. Your bank account must be a checking account.
- Routing number — the 9-digit number that identifies your bank (found on the bottom-left of a check)
- Account number — your specific checking account number
- Confirm account number — enter the account number again to confirm
💡 Your bank account must be a checking account. Savings accounts are not supported.
Step 6 — Review and submit
Once you have filled in all the required fields, Stripe will show you a summary page. Review all information carefully — mismatched details can delay account approval.
Click Submit. You will be automatically redirected back to AmpUp, where your Stripe integration status will show as Connected. You are now ready to accept payments.
Frequently asked questions
How long does verification take?
In most cases, Stripe verifies accounts automatically and instantly. If additional documentation is needed (such as a government-issued ID), Stripe will notify you via your Stripe dashboard.
Is my financial information safe?
Yes. AmpUp uses Stripe Connect, which means we never see or store your bank credentials or tax information. All data is entered directly on Stripe's PCI-compliant servers.
Can I use an existing Stripe account?
Yes. At the account identification step, enter your existing Stripe login credentials. Stripe will let you select which business profile to link to AmpUp.
Can I use one Stripe account across multiple platforms?
Yes. Stripe supports multiple account profiles under a single login email. You can dedicate one profile specifically to AmpUp to keep your reporting and payouts separate.
