The Starter plan is intended for multi-unit dwellings and others who are offering charging as an amenity at a single location, without taking payments from drivers.
Here are the features included in the Starter plan for EV charging management:
Analytics & Reporting
- Analytics & Reporting - View charging session data, utilization, revenue, and sustainability metrics. Download reports and analytics for utility or ESG reporting and rebates.
Driver Access
- Driver Reservations - Drivers can be sure a charger is available by reserving in advance.
- Driver RFID Card - Charge with the tap of a RFID card. AmpUp supports adding charging to a RFID the driver already has (for example, a building badge).
- Location Access Control - Publish charging stations to the AmpUp mobile app, Google Maps, and PlugShare, or keep them private.
Location & Account Management
- Multi-Site Management - Manage multiple locations from one dashboard – floors of a parking garage, areas of a campus, different addresses – as unique areas with different settings.
Support & Troubleshooting
- Support - Drivers have 24/7 access to AmpUp’s help desk. The Starter plan includes host support via email, chat, and talk between the hours of 8am - 8pm Eastern Time.
- Remote Troubleshooting - Get alerts, diagnose problems, and remotely restart chargers.
- Automatic SW Updates - AmpUp software is updated constantly with new features and improvements. By choosing AmpUp, hosts and drivers benefit from frequent updates of our products to enhance the station management and charging experience.
Features not included in Starter plan, but available with plan upgrade:
Driver Access & Payment
- Driver Access Groups - Limit or allow access and adjust pricing for specific drivers or groups by creating dedicated access groups, sharing unique access codes, and approving driver requests.
❌Starter | ✅Core | ✅Pro
- Time-Based Access Control - Change public access based on the day and time for each location. For example, a location can be available to the public during the day but limited to user groups and access code drivers at night.
❌Starter | ❌Core | ✅Pro
- Session Limits & Idle Fees - Encourage drivers to share charging stations by imposing time limits or charging idle fees for drivers staying after a certain time period. Drivers receive push notifications warning them of the session limit and incurring idle fees.

Revenue Generation
- Revenue Collection & Direct Deposit - Set rates by time or energy used. For example, $1.50 per hour or $0.20 per kWh. Revenue collected from drivers’ charging sessions is remitted via direct deposit to a single bank account.
❌Starter | ✅Core | ✅Pro
- Tiered Pricing - Set two-tier charging rates with one price for initial time period or energy usage and a different rate thereafter. For example, free for the first hour, and then $2 per hour after; or $0.10/kWh for the first 15 kWh, and then $0.30/kWh after.
❌Starter | ❌Core | ✅Pro
- Time-of-Use Rates - Manage pricing based on the time of day to accommodate for different utility rates or driver demand. For example, utility electricity prices may increase between 4-9pm and charging pricing rates can be set higher during those times.
❌Starter | ❌Core | ✅Pro
Location & Account Management
- Multi-User Account - Enable multiple users to see analytics, download reports, and manage charging by adding them as a manager or operator to the account.
❌Starter | ✅Core | ✅Pro
- Advanced Load Management - Set an energy load cap that limits maximum power available across a location to reduce the load on the panel. For example, a location could have 20 charging stations each rated at 7.6kW each (a total load of 152 kW if all 20 stations were used at the same time). If the load cap was set to 76kW, 10 cars could charge at 7.6kW. If 11 cars were to charge, the stations would automatically throttle to 6.9kW (76kW/11 cars). Site hosts should work closely with their electrician to determine the load cap and if this feature is required for their location.
