Our Pro enables a more sophisticated pricing structure for your locations.
The Pro Plan enables a more sophisticated pricing structure for your charging locations through the AmpUp Community Manager.
All site hosts on Core and Pro plans can set pricing by time (per hour) or by energy (per kWh). With Pro, you also have access to Tiered Pricing and Time-of-Use (TOU) Exemptions for greater flexibility and cost control.
Setting up Tiered Pricing by Energy
Tiered pricing by energy lets you apply different rates for different amounts of energy used in a single session.
Example:
Tier 1: $0.35 per kWh for the first 20 kWh dispensed
Tier 2: $0.30 per kWh for any energy used after the first 20 kWh
This helps you incentivize shorter or longer charging sessions based on your goals.
Setting up Tiered Pricing by Time
Tiered pricing by time lets you charge different rates based on how long a vehicle remains plugged in.
Example:
Tier 1: $1.00 per hour for the first 2 hours
Tier 2: $0.25 per hour for any time after the first 2 hours
This can help increase charger availability by encouraging drivers to unplug once fully charged.
How to Create Time-of-Use (TOU) Exemptions
Exemptions apply only to fixed Pricing by Energy and by Time pricing.
- To add a TOU Exemption:
- Click Add Exemption.
- Give your exemption a name (e.g., Weekend Discount).
- Set the start and end time.
- Select the days of the week the exemption applies to.
- Add a price differential:
- Increase the base rate by a percentage (+%)
- Or discount the base rate by a percentage (-%)
Click Add Exemption.
Don’t forget to Save your location settings at the bottom of the page.
Use tiered pricing and TOU exemptions together to manage demand, control costs, and incentivize drivers to charge during off-peak times.
Session Limits & Idle Fees
You can set a session limit to control how long a driver can remain connected to a charger. Session limits help you manage charger availability and encourage turnover.
Idle fees can also be enabled to motivate drivers to move their vehicles once charging is complete, freeing up the station for others.
If you don’t want to enforce session limits or idle fees, simply keep the session limit set to 0 and leave idle fees disabled.
Save Your Changes
