This feature is available to AmpUp Pro customers.
AmpUp's Community Manager portal already estimates your electricity cost per kWh to help you set fair, competitive pricing. Until now, that estimate was based on the most likely utility and tariff for your site's zipcode, but not always the right one. Pro customers can now pick the utility and tariff for each of your locations for improved cost estimates and pricing recommendations.
Why This Feature Matters
Site hosts often ask:
- "My utility bill doesn't match the rate AmpUp is estimating — why?"
- "There are multiple electric utilities in my area — how does AmpUp know which one I'm on?"
- "I'm on a special EV or time-of-use rate — can I tell AmpUp that?"
How to Confirm Your Utility & Tariff
- In your Community Manager portal, go to Locations and open the location you want to update.
- In Location Settings, under Tariff Info select your Utility Provider and Tariff Code fields.
- Select your Tariff Code in the dropdown field. Refer your recent utility bill to find tariff details
- Click Save. Your Utility Cost Estimate and Pricing Recommendation bar will update on your next visit to the page, using your selected tariff.
Note: This feature is only available to Pro plan subscribers.
If Your Tariff Isn't Listed
If you know your tariff code but don't see it in the dropdown, choose Tariff Code Not Found. Your site will keep using the zipcode based estimate in the meantime, and this selection is saved so our team knows your tariff needs to be added.
A Few Things to Know
- Only one utility and tariff can be confirmed per location. If your site has multiple meters on different rates, confirm the tariff that best represents your primary charging load.
- If you edit your site's address, and the new zipcode is served by a different utility, your confirmation is cleared automatically. You'll see a banner asking you to re-confirm your utility and tariff so your estimate stays accurate.
- This feature only reads publicly available rate information to build best estimates — it doesn't access your utility account or set up anything with your utility provider.
- If your site is outside the US, or your address is missing a zipcode, this selector won't appear, and your location will continue to use the previous cost estimate behavior with no disruption.
What Changes in Your Cost Estimate
Once confirmed, your Utility Cost Estimate section will separate your rate into:
- Consumption — your energy charge, in $/kWh
- Demand — your demand charge, if your tariff has one
